July 10, 1940, marked the start of one of the most significant moments in British history.

That summer, Germany’s Adolf Hitler, having captured France, looked to invade the last bastion of democratic Europe – Britain. The plan was known as Operation Sea Lion.

Hitler ordered the German Luftwaffe to bomb the country into surrender.

The defence of Europe rested with the Royal Air Force and their success in the ensuing battle – the Battle of Britain – left Sir Winston Churchill to declare: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”

  1. Do not forget the CRITICAL experience contributed by the Polish pilots.. Even though they joined late the Polish 303 squadron was the highest performing of the Battle of Britain.. We at least owe them our awareness of the contribution…

  2. The English Navy could've and would've defended England successful win or lose in English air battle.

I believe English saying "biting off more than they can chew" Hitler bit off more than he can chew with England and later mighty Soviet Union.

  3. It makes me sad to see video's like this one on youtube only getting 6,941 views, Where a cat doing a back flip gets over a million?. People just don't know or don't care about heroes like this that fought for all of us Against true evil. I couldn't of done what they did at 19, and i know for sure that no one i know of around that age group would last a second doing it these days. We should all be very thankful to heroes like this.
