Special Report: Our Ocean


The European Union has unveiled a package of measures worth almost half a billion pounds to improve the health of the oceans.

The measures – announced at the Our Ocean conference in Malta, are designed to reduce plastic pollution, extend marine protected areas, and monitor areas vulnerable to illegal fishing.

  1. Yeah it's a really sorry state of affairs that we continue to polute our once beautiful planet.
    As long as we keep over packaging things with plastic it will only get worse.
    I did read though that plastic is the more viable option due the amount of land it would take to grow plants and trees to use paper bags and cardboard instead but its going to take a colossus undertaking by all nations to start reversing the damage we've done.
    I remember reading years ago scientists had created bacteria that could metabolise plastics and produce a non harmful waste but have not heard anything about it since.

  2. This is all a scam to try and create a plastics tax on the people, if they were serious about it they would stop big companies from manufacturing plastics and stop trying to blame the people.
