The President of the Philippines has admitted to personally tracking down and killing criminal suspects, in his former job as a city mayor.

Rodrigo Duterte said he used to patrol the streets of Davao on a motorbike looking for trouble, where he led a crackdown on crime over two decades.

He’s now being accused of human rights violations in his relentless and bloody war on drugs, which has seen around 6,000 people killed in the less than six months.

Sky News has travelled to the Filippino capital Manila, where families caught up in the killings have urged President Duterte to stop the bloodshed.

  1. Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, their prisons are so derelict that they are taking prisoners from Norway. How did they tackle the War on Drugs, & Street Crime? They legalised Cannabis & treated "Criminals" as patients & rehabilitated them instead.

But it's easier for cowards & primitives to kill people by the millions, than to care about people. It's easy peasy for many cowards to jump on the band wagon & willingly slaughter people like criminals themselves, than to take the emotion out of the equation & let well educated professionals address the root cause.

  2. THOSE ARE THE SCALAWAG POLICEMEN WHO ARE ACTUALLY ILLEGAL DRUG PROTECTORS.
THEY KILL THEIR PUSHERS TO HIDE THEIR CONNECTION TO THEM.
SOMETIMES, THOSE PUSHERS ARE KILLED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT REMIT THEIR SALES.

  4. Where are the big drug bust? their only killing the little guys. I'm sure the big drug lords are sitting in a nice home and at this second counting money. Matter a fact, I'm sure it takes them days to count the money to pay off the cops that are purposely not looking for them. If this president was truly committed then he would be looking for the king pins. We all know it's not going to happen. As an American Filipino I feel for the loss of life and grieving family members. The Philippine president will stop this soon when no one comes to the country for vacations or business.

  5. any person in poverty is more prone to using drugs because his conditions are not very good and life is very hard .they want to escape from it .i think the president is more dangerous here because a drug user will damage his body by using drugs but a politician will take someone elses life just because of some choices that the person made in his life .
